The Biology Department is currently searching for a full-time tenure track faculty member with a Ph.D. in Physiology, Neuroscience, Genetics, or a related discipline and evidence of ongoing scholarly research. All applicants should have a commitment to integrate faith and learning in the classroom and a plan to involve undergraduate students in their research program. Prior teaching experience is preferred, and demonstration of campus and community involvement is strongly encouraged. Successful applicants will be committed Christians and active in their local church.
A teaching load of 24 credits (eight three-credit courses or the equivalent) per academic year. Examples of courses and labs to be taught include: Principles of Biology (non-majors), Introduction to Plants & Animals, Advanced Physiology, Comparative Anatomy, and Genetics. Other courses and labs are possible as determined by the candidate’s expertise and interests.
Participation in the development and improvement of department curricula and courses with a particular emphasis on ways to involve students in research throughout the academic year.
Other responsibilities will include undergraduate advising, committee work, attendance at faculty meetings and commencement, and service to the department, college, and local community.
Have completed a doctorate in Physiology, Neuroscience, Genetics or a related field.
Experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants with other kinds of teaching experience will be considered.
Ongoing scholarly research that can be implemented in an undergraduate academic setting.
Demonstrate an active relationship with Christ as expressed in faith and service which is in accord with the mission of Eastern Nazarene College and display a philosophy of Christian higher education consistent with the college’s Wesleyan tradition.
