The Business and Economics Department of Houghton College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Finance and Economics teaching position. This position involves teaching 24-25 credit hours per academic year, primarily in the fields of finance and economics, with possibility of teaching other business-related courses like Operations Management. A majority of the teaching load will be for undergraduate courses, with potential for graduate level course assignment.
The candidate selected will provide leadership in shaping the department’s finance program, and will guide the Student Investment Group fund management of nearly $500,000. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate will participate in departmental meetings and activities, contribute to curriculum development, and share in academic advising of students in the department.
A PhD, EdD, or DBA with a concentration in finance or economics is preferred. A Masters in Business, Finance, Economics or closely related field with a CFP/CFA will be considered.
Important qualities sought in applicants for this position include a commitment to excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching, a mature Christian faith, and an ability to integrate Christian faith with teaching and research. Additionally, a professional work history in the field of finance is strongly desired.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to academic scholarship and teaching, and the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues.
