Columbia International University is seeking a Social Sciences faculty. The Social Sciences faculty provides academic instruction in the disciplines associated with the social sciences. The faculty person who holds this position is also expected to provide leadership for students via interaction and academic advising. He/she will also serve as a curriculum developer, engage in faculty and university appointed committees, and may serve as an advisor to selected student organizations. He/she also serves as primary steward of educational department guidelines and policies.
Extensive knowledge of the disciplines associated with social science, including but not limited to: social science research, sociology, social work, psychological paradigms, human psychology, and counseling.
Experience teaching the following course content:
Introduction to Human Services
Social Welfare Policy & Practice
Demonstrate a strong knowledge in the mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual growth needs of people in clinical, academic, and church/mission settings.
Commitment to CIU’s mission and vision and life style standards.
Design and implement effective instructional and counseling strategies and methodologies.
An earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in an appropriate social science from an accredited university is preferred.
Some level of post-secondary training in biblical/theological studies is desired.
Eligibility for social work license is preferred.
Some cross-cultural ministry is desirable.
Preference is given to individuals with at least three years of experience teaching at the college level.
