The Life Directions Center (LDC) Nursing Advisor position is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Associate Director of the Life Directions Center. The purpose of the LDC is to equip authentic disciples of Christ to discern their life calling, achieve academic success, and engage in meaningful service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide academic advising to nursing students. Assist with course selection, and adherence to a degree plan to ensure timely graduation. Assist nursing students in pursuing opportunities to meet their academic goals.
Update and maintain detailed records of students' academic progress using office tools and university database system. Provide students with documentation to re-cap and remind them of items discussed with their advisor.
Provide expertise and oversight to pre-nursing and nursing students by facilitating programs that enhance their academic success and career aspirations.
Assist with the application and interview process of students going from pre-nursing to the BSN program.
Work with faculty, Deans, and the Registrar's Office (Service Central) to ensure cohesive communication regarding academic requirements.
Assist students with a variety of other topics including: God’s calling on their life; their faith journey; service to others; personal, spiritual, and interest assessments; as well as academic and life goals.
Provide mentoring for your cohort of students, This holistic mentoring includes academic care, personal care, and spiritual care.
Plan and facilitate relevant events and programs with the rest of the Life Directions Center team.
Support CCU's Student Life department through involvement in campus-wide programming, committees, and events.
Other duties as may be assigned by the LDC Director or Associate Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Four year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required, with a master's degree in related field preferred.
Two-three years of experience working in Christian higher education preferred.
Passion for helping students deepen their relationships with God and develop as the men and women of God they are designed to be.
Experience or strong interest in field of nursing.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, experience using and maintaining a shared database system, and a willingness to learn new technology. Self-starter, personable, organized, and a team player.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent at balancing multiple priorities and a large number of meetings in a very fast-paced environment, especially during high-demand periods of a semester.
Adapts quickly and cheerfully to changing priorities and processes.
Enjoys learning, being stretched professionally, and creative problem solving.
Certification and/or experience with personality, interest, and strengths assessments preferred (Examples: MBTI, Strong, StrengthsQuest).
Event planning or programming experience preferred.
Nature of Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
