The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Lee University seeks a tenure track position in School Counseling to begin in August of 2019. A doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, is required. A current certification in school counseling, or eligibility for certification, is also required. Applicants should identify with the counseling profession through memberships in professional organizations (i.e., ACA, ASCA, etc.). The ideal candidate will have 1) experience teaching in a counselor education program, 2) experience implementing/adhering to professional standards (CACREP), three or more years’ experience as a school counselor, 4) evidence of scholarly activity in the field of school counseling. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in teaching, mentoring and supervising. Individuals from underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Duties will include teaching graduate school counseling courses along with psychology undergraduate courses. Faculty responsibilities include committee duties, engaging in scholarly activities in counselor education; student advising; university and community service; curriculum development; reporting to Department Chair; and working cooperatively with departmental faculty in complementing current departmental strengths.
Required qualifications include Christian commitment and Community Covenant lifestyle agreement; doctorate in appropriate field; demonstrated college teaching ability; ability to develop and mentor students in limited scope research; ability to integrate Christian faith into course lectures; post-doctoral experience preferred, but not required.
