The position is a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position for fall and spring semesters, with the possibility of summer school and online teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays, but will include some evening classes, independent studies, as well as some online teaching responsibilities. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.
Primary responsibilities include classroom and laboratory-based teaching and research in the ABET-accredited Materials Joining Engineering and Materials Joining Engineering Technology degree programs (BSE and BSET), advising students, and serving on various university committees. Teaching duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching in areas such as Welding Engineering Design, Physical Metallurgy, Material Thermodynamics and Kinetics, and Advanced Manufacturing Processes. Teaching responsibilities may include both on-site and on-line delivery methods.

Applicants are invited with expertise in welding engineering, physical metallurgy, metal additive manufacturing, computational design/simulation methods, and/or advanced joining and manufacturing processes. Applicants must have a strong commitment to laboratory-based undergraduate and graduate engineering in the areas of in Welding Engineering Design, Physical Metallurgy, Material Thermodynamics and Kinetics, and Advanced Manufacturing Processes. Priority will be given to candidates with a B.S. degree in Materials, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and a PhD in Welding, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering. Industrial work experience is highly desirable. Successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of outstanding potential in undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as the ability to supervise research teams, advise graduate students, and secure outside research funding.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology offers EAC/ABET accredited degrees in engineering with concentrations in mechanical, electrical, materials joining, biomedical, civil and computer engineering and TAC/ABET accredited degrees in engineering technology with concentrations in mechanical, electrical and materials joining. The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology has approximately 500 students and 25 full-time faculty, with the Materials Joining program representing 10% of total enrollment. The hands-on education and research takes place in a recently renovated $1.2M and 10,000 ft2 lab named after Prof. Kielhorn, in whose name this position has been established. The Kielhorn Endowed Professorship was created through the generous contribution of LeTourneau University Welding Engineering alumni and the American Welding Society to honor the memory of distinguished LETU professor Mr. William "Bill" Kielhorn. Professor Kielhorn first joined LeTourneau University as a student, graduating in 1959. Seven years later, in 1966, he returned to LeTourneau as a faculty member. For 45 years, Kielhorn diligently educated succeeding generations of welding engineers and welding engineering technologists at LeTourneau University, retiring in May 2011. Despite being hospitalized for stage IV colon cancer during his last semester, Kielhorn never missed a class in his entire 45-year career. The Kielhorn Professorship supports the growth of the welding engineering faculty at LeTourneau University and furthers our mission of training up the next generation of welding engineers and welding engineering technologists.
