The Lee University School of Music invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of Music Education, starting August 2019. We seek a dynamic teacher with P-12 experience in choral music education who is committed to teaching and mentoring students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
A completed doctorate (or equivalent) in music education is required. University level teaching experience is preferred; a minimum of 3 years of successful choral music teaching in P-12 school settings is required.
Candidates should demonstrate specialized content knowledge for teaching choral music in P-12 schools, familiarity with EdTPA, knowledge of current issues in music education, experience in online teaching and learning, and a broad understanding of music teaching, research and scholarship.
Teaching assignments may include undergraduate methods courses, on-line graduate courses in music education, oversight of graduate research, and mentoring/supervision of student teachers. Based on the candidate's experience and the program needs, other courses or tasks may be assigned. The successful candidate will demonstrate collaborative engagement among colleagues and a student-centered approach to teaching.
