The Grounds Technician is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Assistant Director of Grounds. The position requires two or more years of progressive experience in landscape and grounds maintenance, or similar areas. The successful candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to provide competent service to the Colorado Christian University community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work Order ownership. Works with customers from initial receipt to completion and includes final communication of work product.
Shift ownership. Perform all assigned functions during a shift.
Student direction and guidance. Demonstrates Christ's love to student employees as an example of hard work and of Christ-like character.
Comply with safety guidelines and other policies as established by CCU and other governmental authorities.
Work cooperatively with vendors as assigned.
Complete the following, as assigned:
Lawn care including mowing, trimming, pruning, weed control, and planting.
Irrigation systems and controls maintenance.
Snow and ice removal.
Parking lot and sidewalk maintenance.
Equipment operation, including but not limited to: truck and hydraulic plow, tractor, large deck mowers, snow blower, skid steer and loader, small engine tools, gator, and golf carts.
Exterior signage care and install,
Inventory control, materials inventory, and pest control.
Scheduled cleaning and preventive maintenance on irrigation and grounds equipment.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Four or more years of proven responsible experience in grounds maintenance, construction or similar area. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team.
Demonstrated self-starter, high goal and outcome orientation.
Appreciation for and commitment to ongoing professional development. Understand/use electronic communication and computer information systems.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/work orders.

Nature of Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is required to work on call, particularly during winter months, which may include irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
