Trevecca Nazarene University is seeking a qualified individual to fill a 4-month adjunct faculty position in applied vocal instruction, beginning January 11, 2019. This contract is subject to renewal for upcoming semesters after the 4-month period has ended. The position reports to the Vocal Coordinator of the Department of Music and is part of the School of Music and Worship Arts.
Trevecca Nazarene University is located in Nashville, Tennessee. The Department of Music is comprised of eight full-time faculty, a number of adjunct faculty, and 85 majors. Undergraduate majors are currently offered in Music Liberal Arts (general), Music Liberal Arts (commercial), Vocal and Instrumental Performance (classical), Theory and Composition, and Music Education. The Department of Music is accredited by NASM.
The successful applicant will be able to teach both classical and commercial voice students while maintaining a firm grounding in the Italian School of Singing. The successful candidate will help students master the technique needed to sing these diverse repertoires and develop authentic interpretations of their vocal literature. In addition, applicants must be able to work well with a team and possess an openness to collaborating with other applied teachers.
A personal commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to the mission and core values of the Church of the Nazarene;
Proof of substantial experience in private voice instruction;
Proof of former and current vocal performance experience;
Possess a Master of Music degree in either vocal performance or vocal pedagogy
Familiarity with the standard classical vocal repertoire and an intermediate knowledge of commercial repertoire;
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal means;
Demonstrate a commitment to the fundamental values of service to others, community, and diversity.

Finalists will be asked to visit the campus for an interview and a demonstration of singing and teaching abilities.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
