The Staff Accountant-Student Accounts is responsible for various University accounting processes, with an emphasis on student accounts. This individual must be self-directed and able to interact well with team members, internal, and external customers.This position is for a full time employee working 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with and support various departments in managing student accounts (e.g. Financial Aid, Service Central, etc.)
Respond to internal and external student and vendor inquiries.
Perform account analyses and other reconciliation procedures.
Assist with student account issues and collection activities.
Monitor accounts receivable issues, vendor accounts, and documents. Provide recommendations for improvements.
Gather and compile year-end financial information for audit and other compliance reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned including back-up functions for the team.
Process all incoming student tuition payments, past-due account collections and loan payments (e.g. checks, cash, credit card deposits)
Administer dual credit procedures.
Process student billing reports.
Support Accounts Payable including processing vendor payables and issuing checks and ACH payments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Business Administration, Accounting or related field preferred, or relevant professional experience.
1-2 years accounts receivable and general accounting experience.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ellucian Colleague experience a plus.
Proficient typing skills; comfortable with Microsoft Office; strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
