Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan invites applications for a hybrid position – three quarter tenure-track assistant professor position in Audio Production and one quarter Audio-Visual Technical Coordinator to begin Fall 2019.
The academic responsibilities of the position include the ability to teach basic to advanced theory and practice in audio production and sound design, including the areas of audio engineering, music producing, live sound, audio-video technical production, film & video post-production and audio production for new media. Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the candidate’s specialization area, academic advising, committee work, and other departmental duties as assigned.
The production responsibilities of the position include the technical oversight of Matthew Performing Arts Center (MPAC):
operating and/or overseeing the audio and lighting of live production events up to an average of 10 hours per week
training and managing student workers on equipment in MPAC
liaison with facilities management/scheduling, the music division, and the Center for Academic Student Services
other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will possess a relevant degree, industry experience, knowledge of industry standards and current trends in audio production technology and practices, academic sensibility as well as scholarly potential, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. An M.F.A. or Ph.D. is preferred; individuals at the ABD stage will be considered.
