Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education

The University of Sioux Falls invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Special Education to begin in the Fall of 2019. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must possess an earned Master’s degree in Special Education or closely related field (e.g. Speech and Language) at the time of appointment; an earned Doctorate in Special Education or closely related field is preferred and is required for tenure. PK-12 teaching experience is required. The successful candidate will have a minimum three years of demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership in a special education environment, will be knowledgeable in special education curriculum, assessment, and program development, and will possess the ability to work collaboratively with PK-12 school personnel. Teaching experience at the university level is preferred, but not required. Experience with state and national accreditation requirements is preferred but not required. Personal commitment to the Christian faith and the integration of faith and learning as well as a commitment to the mission of the University of Sioux Falls as a Christian liberal arts university is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES This is a full-time on-campus, tenure-track position within the Fredrikson School of Education. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, a graduate special education course, working directly with adjunct faculty, recruiting and advising students, supervising undergraduates in field placements, and working to build a strong and vibrant special education program while collaborating with faculty and staff members. Faculty members are also expected to develop partnerships with local school districts and community agencies, serve on faculty committees, participate in accreditation and assessment activities, stay active in professional organizations, and participate in the life of the university and community and collaborate with existing faculty and staff members.
