Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement (VPA), the Associate Director of Advancement Communications (ADAC) is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies that inform, inspire, encourage, persuade, and engage target audiences in meaningful and relevant ways to advance the university. The ADAC is responsible for the development, production, and distribution of print, digital, and audio content for all Advancement marketing and communication initiatives. Functional areas of responsibility include: Public Relations, Grant Writing Procurement and Fulfillment, Internal & External Communications, and Digital, Print, TV & Radio Marketing.
Serve as chief writer in executing all Advancement marketing and communication strategies
Work with the VPA in the development of marketing and communications plans to raise the visibility and enhance the image of King University to internal and external publics
Work with the VPA and Director of Marketing & Communications in managing public relations’ initiatives
Write and publish news releases
Write case statements for all campaign/fundraising initiatives
Write content for campaign/fundraising marketing and communications materials and digital media platforms
Working with the Associate Vice President for Advancement Services, research and identify grant opportunities for supporting various fundraising priorities
Write persuasive and informative grant proposals
Procuring grants for the university meeting or exceeding stated annual objectives
Maintain library of marketing and communication resources
Manage website related to news, events, and media related information
Ensure adherence to King University Identity Guide
Direct activities of interns and student workers
Other duties as assigned
At least five years of experience in marketing, communications, persuasive writing, proposal writing, public relations or related positions.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with staff, administrators, faculty, and alumni.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to prepare effective budgets and manage budget resources.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends and be an effective manager of time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience preparing effective written proposals and correspondence for a wide variety of constituents.
Ability to write persuasively.
Ability to interview subjects for stories; listen intentionally, and intuitively.
Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team member, as well as work independently to accomplish goals and reach and exceed established benchmarks.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, and social mediums
Working knowledge and experience with media best practices (deadlines, style preference, etc…)
Ability to articulate a personal faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ and support the mission of King University
Willingness to travel independently on a frequent basis.
