The Department of Biological Sciences at Olivet Nazarene University is seeking a faculty member to join our Zoology Program in Biological Sciences beginning August 2019. The program has grown significantly over the last decade and an additional faculty is needed to support the growth of this rapidly expanding student population.
Our preferred applicant will have training and expertise in a field of zoological science. Competence, experience and mission fit are top priorities. Possible courses could include Vertebrate Natural History, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Animal Nutrition, Evolutionary Biology, Herpetology, Mammology, Ichthyology or other offerings in the candidate’s area of expertise.
The preferred candidate will: • Hold a Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences • Demonstrate understanding and intended use of evidence-based pedagogy. • Show commitment to the development of an undergraduate research program in zoology. • Be able to mentor students in the integration of the Biological Sciences and Christian faith.
Department and Program: The Department of Biological Sciences currently has 8 full time faculty, all holding doctoral degrees in various fields of Biology, and serves over 220 undergraduate students majoring in Zoology, Biology and Environmental Science. We seek to broadly train our zoology students across vertebrate and invertebrate fields, and require a capstone research and/or field experience. To enhance their degree, the department also offers arctic and tropical field courses, a zoology club, and a student run animal care program that houses over 25 species of insects, reptiles, amphibians and fish.
