JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all systems designed to ensure compliance with NCAA, Great American Conference and University regulations. .
RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions: • Responsible for compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA policies, rules and regulations concerning recruitment, financial aid and eligibility of student-athletes • Develops and conducts a thorough rules education program for student- athletes, staff and faculty, as well as constituents outside of the athletics department (alumni, boosters) • Investigates, documents and reports all violations to the Director of Athletics, Faculty Athletics Representative, Executive Vice President, President, GAC and NCAA officials • Builds and maintains university relationships with members of other departments who have compliance responsibilities (e.g. registrar, financial aid, admissions and academic advising) • Designs, organizes and maintains all documentation utilized for monitoring rules compliance • Monitors full time enrollment and progress towards degree of all student- athletes • Provides as well as documents rules interpretations for the University • Manages the NCAA’s online database, Compliance Assistant (CA) • Maintains accurate and complete student-athlete and departmental documentation and files • Serves as the athletics representative for all NCAA compliance issues
• Enhances professional growth by attending NCAA Regional Rules, NCAA Convention, etc • Maintains a professional image and manner consistent with Southern Nazarene University’s mission and goals • Represents the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, media and general public • Responsible for any other details of the compliance program or any other additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education • At least two years of experience, as it relates to the position, in NCAA compliance or academics with demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of NCAA regulations • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment with a commitment to service • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently • Demonstrates a mature and expressive Christian faith commitment • Passionate support and articulation of the University Mission and Vision for athletics within the context of the Mission • Servant leader with a proven ability to build a culture of excellence and accountability
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in a related field • Experience working in a Division II compliance program • Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant/LSDBi/ and the NCAA Eligibility Center
Supervision Received: • Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.
Supervision Exercised: • May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student ployees.
