Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinguished candidates for a full-time faculty appointment in the Biblical Studies program. This is a tenure-track position beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Appropriate earned doctorate is preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates in the midst of doctoral studies. Quality teaching with some college teaching experience is desirable and online or nontraditional course delivery experience is an additional potential asset. Candidates should know that as a department we affirm the university statement that “the Holy Bible is the only inspired, authoritative written word of God, progressively revealing God’s will for humankind,” and that, therefore, the Bible, correctly interpreted, is true and trustworthy in all it affirms. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. Candidates will be expected to affirm the Taylor University Life Together Covenant, Statement of Faith, and essential documents.
The appointee will teach Foundational Core courses in the Old Testament as well as various upper level major courses, including Pentateuch and OT Historical books. Faculty teaching loads are twenty-four hours spread over a 4-1-4 academic calendar year.
The BSCP department consists of fourteen full-time faculty members (7 full-time in Biblical Studies, plus adjuncts) and provides instruction in biblical literature, biblical languages, theology, Christian ministries, youth ministries, philosophy, and missions. The department offers four majors, in biblical literature, Christian ministries, youth ministries, and philosophy, as well as eight minors and a certificate program. Graduates are prepared for professional and graduate programs in theological seminaries and in university departments of religion and philosophy. Many students also enter into church and parachurch vocations immediately upon graduation. The department also contributes significantly to the general education curriculum of all students.
