Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement (VPA), the Director of Alumni and Community Engagement, Annual Giving and Stewardship is responsible for the development, management, and integration of programs that engage alumni, donors and community partners in creative and relevant ways, building meaningful relationships that results in volunteerism and giving to help perpetuate the mission of the university.
Working with the VPA, the Director is will lead in the development, implementation and execution of a strategic plan for alumni and community engagement, annual giving and stewardship.
The strategic plan for alumni and community engagement will develop and strengthen relationships with alumni, students and parents, friends and community partners. Growth in participation, volunteerism, and giving from these constituencies in support of the university’s mission is a leading strategic objective. Successful planning, implementation and execution of special events for alumni and community engagement is another objective.
The strategic plan for annual giving will include initiatives to accelerate growth in giving from alumni, parents, and friends through direct mail, phone solicitations, social media, crowdfunding, and special events. Successful execution of the plan will systematically result in a sustained increase annual support for the university and an increase the number of alumni and friends donors.
The strategic plan for donor stewardship will employ best practices to elevate relationships with existing donors and community partners through influential stewardship programs, engagements and effectual communications.
Working with the VPA, the Director designs, leads, and directs the development of annual goals and objectives, operating plans and budgets, as well as volunteer management for all alumni and community engagement, annual giving, and stewardship initiatives.
At least three years of progressively responsible successful and diverse fundraising experience, including demonstrated success developing and executing alumni engagement programming and annual giving initiatives.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with staff, administrators, faculty, and alumni.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and handle several projects simultaneously.
Ability to prepare effective budgets and manage budget resources.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends and be an effective manager of time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience preparing effective written proposals and correspondence for a wide variety of constituents.
Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team member, as well as work independently to accomplish goals and reach and exceed established benchmarks.
Intermediate level computer skills using a Windows based operating system, specifically MS Word, Excel, Outlook and fundraising databases.
Experience in event planning, management and execution.
Willingness to travel independently on a frequent basis.
Possess a valid state driver's license.
Experience in strategic planning, implementation and execution.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing best practices in alumni and community engagement, annual giving and stewardship.
Experience in social media marketing and/or fundraising.
Experience in crowdfunding initiatives.
Expertise in writing and editing promotional materials and developing marketing materials.
