Responsible to the University President, providing executive, visionary and entrepreneurial leadership as the senior administrative officer for University Development and Marketing Departments. Responsible for leading and administering all aspects of development and marketing, including: the Jessup Fund, capital campaign(s), alumni relations, athletic fundraising, planned gifts, estates, wills and trusts, grant writing, major donor cultivation, events and media, church, and community relations; and strategic, brand and operational marketing, publications, and print, web, social and digital communications and on campus University communication. This position serves as a member of the University’s Executive Team reporting directly to the University President.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead all university development, fundraising and marketing activities
Manage staff of the University Development and Marketing Departments
Develop and implement strategies to ensure proper identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects among the University’s constituents (alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, churches and others) as well as new contacts capable of making major gifts to the University
Develop and oversee development and marketing plans and programs that build the University brand and further the mission of the University.
Direct development of innovative and creative content for a variety of University communications including advertising, brochures, presentations, white papers, ad campaigns, web sites, email, events, etc. within project timelines
Develop and implement effective communication and cultivation processes for – Prospective Donors, Existing donors, Alumni/Parent Relations, Pastors/Church Relations, Professional Community (lawyers, accountants, trust officers, financial planners and brokers)
Collaborate with University Departments on all aspects of fundraising and donor communication (e.g. Athletics, Deans of Academic Schools, etc.)
Identify opportunities and strategies for the general advancement and support of University programs, budgets, and capital projects
Supervise and direct receipt of gifts, recognition of gifts, and write and sign monthly receipt letters
Develop, implement and maintain major donor moves management process and system
Oversee and build on positive University brand image
Oversee quantitative and qualitative market research and analytics to understand consumer perceptions of the university and its services
Oversee marketing policies and procedures, including Brand Standards and Style Guide
Oversee communications with media groups through effective public relations, advertising and print communication
Develop and oversee community relations, representing the University with external constituencies, legislative members and various governmental entities.
Participates with the University President and executive leadership in planning, policy making, strategic planning and executive leadership of the University.
As a member of the Executive Team, this position is expected to help lead and shape the spiritual climate of the University in accordance with the statement of faith, community covenant and chapters, and under the direction of the President.
Work with the University president on projects and initiatives designed to enhance the future of William Jessup University and Christian Higher Education
Directs the University external communications program
Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer regarding gifts of assets, scholarship fund accounting and endowment portfolio management
Other duties assigned by the President
Master’s Degree required
Industry Designations preferred (CFRE, CFP, etc.)
Ten years fundraising experience in a non-profit organization (preferably higher education) with increasing levels of responsibility
Seven years of experience in a leadership role
Demonstrated record as a senior level fundraiser cultivating and securing major gifts
A proven track record of developing and delivering effective planning, while evaluating and growing marketing and development systems and programs
History of leveraging innovation and technology to build brand and engage a wide variety of constituencies
Ability to develop and sustain strong relationships with corporate and community leaders, government officials, donors, alumni and the advancement community in the interest of gaining knowledge and resources to support the University's mission
Experience coordinating a range of marketing development initiatives and ability to mobilize resources to effectively manage multiple projects focused on results
Ability to articulate their Christian faith

Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in oral and written communication, and public relations skills
