The Dean of Students is responsible for the oversight of the professional Residence Life, Housing Coordinator, and Student Engagement staff, the residents they supervise, the programming they offer, and the facilities they oversee.
This includes jurisdiction in student conduct matters, service as an investigator and/or adjudicator in the Title IX process, managing the housing process for students, oversight of co-curricular student development, and setting the strategic direction for programing.
The Dean of Students oversees the development of student life in conjunction with the Dean of Student Advocacy and the Director of the Student Success Center to enhance the college experience for all students.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, or related field and five years of experience in Residence Life/Student Engagement.

Ability to handle issues of a confidential nature
Research skills needed for gathering information on issues pertaining to higher education
Experience and competence in working with diverse populations
Ability to work in a supervisory, collegial, and/or mentoring relationships with others, including staff, faculty, and student leaders
Knowledge of or ability to learn student database programs; Familiarity with Microsoft products, Ellucian Colleague, Starfish, Salesforce
Ability to communicate and follow up verbally and in writing to ensure shared understanding of accurate information
Ability to maintain composure and resolve conflict with students, parents, and staff/faculty professionally and effectively
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and conflicting priorities to accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately
Ability to adjudicate complex conduct cases
Title IX experience as investigator or adjuidcater
Ability to work as a member of a team and independently within a broad strategic framework
Self-motivated, creative, organized, decisive, and enthusiastic
Ability to attend to detail and maintain accurate records
