The Division of Fine Arts / Music at Louisiana College seeks to fill a tenure-track position beginning August 1, 2018.
Description of Position:
The Department of Music is a rapidly growing entity on the campus of Louisiana College and is seeking a qualified musician, conductor, and leader to be appointed as an Assistant Professor of Worship Leadership and Voice for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The qualified candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional musicianship, quality leadership, and a Christ-centered educational mindset that permeates the duties the applicant will be responsible for.
The position will require the candidate to teach Applied Voice, courses in the Music and Worship Leadership curriculum including but not limited to: (1) Biblical Foundations of Worship, (2) Dynamics of Worship Leadership, (3) Church Music Administration, (4) Music Literature for Worship, oversee Worship Ministry Internships and Senior Worship Projects, and direct three campus ensembles including the following: (1) Voices of Louisiana College, (2) Elevate, and (3) Chapel Band (descriptions below). In addition to directing, the Assistant Professor of Worship Leadership will be expected to travel with Voices and Elevate.
The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with all college and departmental recruiting efforts which include but are not limited to Preview Day, Front of the Line, school recruitment visits, Department of Music SHOWCASE, Department of Music Audition Days, and other creative recruitment opportunities as needed. The responsibilities of developing creative strategies for reaching and recruiting students for the Music and Worship Leadership program will be a key component of this position.

Louisiana College is a private, Baptist, coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences with selected professional programs, located in Pineville, Louisiana. The College was founded in 1906 and is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Louisiana Baptist Convention. It has an enrollment of about 1,200 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Voices of Louisiana College
This ensemble is made of 12 premier singers who travel to churches around the state and region facilitating worship and concerts to churches. This is a key entity for Louisiana College in both relationships with local churches and recruitment for the college. The group travels multiple times each month and will occasionally provide music for on-campus events.
Elevate serves as a contemporary worship band comprised of 6-8 auditioned students who facilitate worship upon request of churches and schools. The ensemble typically travels 2 times a month to area schools and churches.
This group provides weekly worship at Louisiana College Chapel. The rehearsals and planning will be under the supervision of the Professor of Worship Leadership and Voice.
A successful applicant must hold a Masters degree in music, preferably in Church Music, Voice, or Worship Leadership. Considerable experience leading worship or full or part-time ministerial positions are also required. D.M.A. or Ph.D. in Worship/Church Music, or Choral Conducting is preferred.
