Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia, invites applications for the position of University Archivist/Assistant Librarian, Reference, for the Norma Marion Alloway Library. The Alloway Library provides the primary curricular and teaching research support for the University. The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the University Archives, in addition to providing research support to students and other Alloway Library users.
The Archives serves as the repository of the recorded history of Trinity Western University. Through the acquisition and preservation of archival records, and the provision of access to them, the Archives supports and furthers the mission of the University.
The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Archival Studies from an accredited university program or a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited program, with a minimum of three years’ experience related to archives management; as well as experience providing reference/public service in a library setting.
The applicant should also exhibit an appreciation for a liberal arts education, strong leadership and management skills, a collegial business style, a professional public image and service orientation, a progressive approach to technology, familiarity with automated systems, excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, previous experience in academic library setting and evidence of on-going professional development.
The Norma Marion Alloway Library currently houses more than 225,000 print volumes, 197,000 e-books, and 13,600 e-journals, in addition to archival and curriculum collections.
The Library is a member of BC-ELN, COPPUL, eHLbc and CRKN consortia, the Archives Association of B.C., participates in the provincial AskAway virtual reference service and serves approximately 2,000 students and 500 faculty and staff from the main Langley campus.
Salary and Benefits:
