PURPOSE: Identify and recruit prospective students to the Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSM), the Master of Business Administration (MBA), and the Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL) for the Office of Adult & Graduate Studies (A&GS) within the College of Graduate, Online & Adult Learning. Assist students with planning for and achieving their educational goals within UNW’s programs. This sales position is designed to meet or exceed assigned goals and assist the enrollment management team in its effort to meet enrollment goals. The admission counselor must be intentional in his/her efforts and must proactively seek opportunities to connect with qualified prospects. The admission counselor is expected to possess sophisticated counseling skills and depth of program knowledge.
This position is located in Sioux Falls, SD.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Understand and convey the unique Northwestern legacy/story, as well as its mission
Develop a thorough and functional knowledge of the BSM, MBA, and MOL programs, in order to effectively represent them to prospects
Act with greater decision-making authority and independence in program areas
Identify potential students for the BSM, MBA, and MOL programs and make immediate, personal contact. Guide the prospect in completing the application process. Meet or exceed assigned recruitment goals
Follow-up with prospective students via personal visits, phone calls, email, and social media, maintaining consistent, ongoing contact until the enrollment process is complete and the student is enrolled in classes
Participate in off-campus recruiting activities such as educational fairs, corporate recruiting, church and para-church organizations, working with 2-year schools, and others
Evaluate applications for admission according to established institutional criteria. Maintain consistent records and current status reports for each prospective student, using established resources and guidelines
Meet on a frequent basis with the Director and other members of the enrollment management team to assess and evaluate the status of applicants and the viability of class starts
Keep the Director informed regarding class starts, enrollment statistics, etc.
Serve as principal admissions office representative on a program/major to faculty/administrators (e.g., to academic program managers/directors, baccalaureate department chairs)
Serve as point person for additional, key admissions office tasks (e.g. events, publications, Argos, etc.)
Participate fully in information sessions and all admissions events. Assist with the coordination of orientation and registration sessions
Abide by all University policies

Attend various events such as College Fairs, conventions, the Minnesota State Fair, and other events as assigned by the Director to promote A&GS programs
Work occasional evenings and weekends as requested
Assist with miscellaneous department duties as requested by the Director
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; Master’s degree highly recommended
Minimum 2 years related experience required (recruitment, sales, marketing)
Northwestern alumna/us strongly preferred
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner
Ability to work independently without close supervision
Ability to prioritize tasks, completing accurately and in a timely manner
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, working some evenings and weekends
Ability to obtain and main a valid driver’s license
Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills
Excellent written, phone, and personal communication skills
Understanding of and agreement with Northwestern’s Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement is essential
Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
