Assistant professor of Christian Formation and Ministry, with expertise in areas relevant to outdoor and adventure leadership including spiritual formation, leadership and/or experiential education. A full-time, tenure-track position available beginning July 2019. The position serves at HoneyRock, the Outdoor Center for Leadership Development of Wheaton College, has co-reporting supervision from HoneyRock’s Director and the CFM department chair, and is a member of the HoneyRock program team. This position is located at HoneyRock in Three Lakes, Wisconsin.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Ph.D. in Christian Formation and Ministry, or relevant discipline to this role, with additional academic work and experience in the disciplines noted above. Evidence of scholarship and teaching in the following areas: outdoor leadership, spiritual formation, multicultural ministry, and research. The ideal candidate for this position should be able to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and have understanding of cross-cultural ministry and the global Christian camping movement.
Teach sixteen credit hours (representing an 8-hour release) over the course of the year in the area(s) identified above, primarily at the graduate level, while serving in an administrative capacity as Coordinator of the Masters of Arts degree in Outdoor and Adventure Leadership. This is an 11-month position that is responsible for year-round program coordination and planning, student supervision, and collaboration with admissions.
The Department of Christian Formation and Ministry offers an undergraduate program in Christian Education and graduate programs in Outdoor and Adventure Leadership and Christian Formation and Ministry, with a concentration in Student Development. HoneyRock, the Outdoor Center for Leadership Development of Wheaton College also offers academic work for graduated high school students (“Vanguard Gap Year”) incoming Wheaton College students (“Wheaton Passage”), and graduated college students (“HoneyRock Fellows”). In conjunction with the CFM department, HoneyRock also offers an undergraduate certificate (24 semester hours) in applied leadership that involves multiple immersive experiences at HoneyRock over four years.
