This position, highly integral to the continued growth and vibrancy of the institution, will administer all aspects of the admission and recruitment of prospective online students for undergraduate and graduate level programs. The ideal candidate will possess positive energy, exceptional communication skills, creativity, enthusiasm, and motivation for growing and strengthening online degree programs at Houghton College. The Online Programs Admission Specialist will provide a high-quality, personalized admission experience to prospective students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit and maintain contact with prospective students from inquiry to the point of enrollment
Cultivate relationships with applicants
Consistently strive to meet and exceed admission goals and objectives
Develop new, proactive strategies and initiatives for engaging the prospective online student population
Work alongside the Dean of Houghton College Online to foster and grow relationships and partnerships with alumni, community members, and businesses
Evaluate applications for admission and make recommendations to the admission committee
Track and manage all necessary paperwork for the application, financial aid, and enrollment processes
Assist in planning on-campus events related to online programs
Conduct off-campus recruitment
Partner with faculty, staff, and students in the recruitment process for online programs
Supervise admission interns as necessary
Coordinate the creation and distribution of all admission-related materials produced for online programs
Partner with the Office of Marketing & Communications to track, develop, and implement marketing efforts for Houghton College Online
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, Education or related field.
Computer and database management skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills
Ability to work with deadlines, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift 20 pounds; sedentary work; sitting for extended periods
Sales/Marketing/Customer Service-related work for a minimum of 1 year
Evening and weekend work at times, including travel and admission events
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
Training/experience specifically in recruiting and admissions for online programs
Training / experience in recruiting adult learners
Counseling /advising or relevant higher education experience
