The Dean of Social Science and Humanities provides spiritual, academic and business leadership for undergraduate and graduate programs, staff, faculty and students in the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of the College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS). The Dean maintains faculty status. The Dean must possess an earned terminal degree from a regionally accredited university.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess a terminal degree in a related field of Social Sciences and Humanities or Higher Education from a regionally accredited college/university.
Five years of experience in a proven leadership position as a dean/director/department chair in higher education. Seven plus (7+) years is preferred.
Five or more years' experience in teaching or administration in undergraduate and graduate programs that center on adult learners, both in an in-seat and an online environment.
Experience using digital education platforms and implementing online instructional strategies.
Must demonstrate superior oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with students and potential students, the university community, ministry partners, corporate partners and general audiences.
A polished, professional demeanor is required for this position as the Dean will regularly interact with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Able to learn new learning systems and use current systems, including Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Strong people skills. Must be able to work with and motivate faculty and staff members with varied personalities and backgrounds.
Demonstrated commitment to Christian academic quality and standards.
Servant-minded and hard-working individual who understands Christian worldviews and can integrate faith and learning with a passion for Christian education.
