San Diego Christian College (SDC), as an academic and learning community, aims to prepare academically equipped, culturally and globally involved graduates with a biblical worldview and godly character to serve God. The Office of Admissions at SDC ensures the integrity of the admissions process by implementing the established goals and guidelines to aid the College in growth. It is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive environment and excellent customer service experience for incoming students and their families.
The Director of Admissions provides leadership in the development, implementation and achievement of strategic enrollment goals of the University, using independent judgment and discretion. The Director is responsible for critical recruitment and marketing strategies, goals, budgets, policies, procedures and guidance for admissions. The Director works in close collaboration with colleagues across the campus and engages with current students, faculty, administrators and alumni in the recruitment and enrollment of new students across traditional, non-traditional and graduate programs.
Admissions Determinations and Reporting (40%)
Review all applicant files and independently determine admissions decisions
Provide outstanding customer service to students, parents and other departments including escalated questions or complaints
Review all customer-related processes, communication and office functions to increase effectiveness and maximize impact.
Process all international student paperwork as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for the institution
Database oversight for both CRM (Velocify) and SIS (Populi)
Work with the Data and Events Management Specialist to pull reports to help track enrollment and provide this information to various departments on campus
Analyze data with the Dean of Enrollment Management to provide key updates on enrollment and suggest how to improve new student yield
Develop partnerships with organizations and schools to help increase the enrollment funnel
Create travel plans for the recruitment of students
Admissions Personnel Management (25%)
Provide oversight, management and direction of all Admissions personnel, including staff and student workers.
Facilitate hiring process for all positions in the office including reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and training all new hires
Monitor individual counselor goals for recruitment
Advise Admissions Counselors with recruitment decisions and/or difficulties using independent judgment
Update and create job descriptions as needed
Create and supervise all visit events using independent discretion while collaborating with others within the unit and organization as needed.
Oversee Ambassador Program and all current student involvement with the Admissions Office
Direct weekly office meetings including preparation of agenda items
Update office and other departments on any changes, improvements or updates regarding processes or functions
Act as a liaison for non-Admissions events on campus such as NSO, Homecoming, etc.
Performance management of all Admissions personnel, including feedback and guidance to improve individual and team performance, to drive excellence in all positions.
Facilitate annual evaluation process for all staff
Marketing for Admissions Office (20%)
Independently produce and edit communication flow for the admissions funnel including automated emails, direct mail pieces and phone call scripts
Create and update content for the admissions portions of the website
Order recruitment materials such as banners and tablecloths
Purchase giveaway items for recruitment purposes
Travel as needed to various locations to support Admissions initiatives and goals
Represent SDCC at conferences and meetings by participating in groups such as NACCAP, Cal-Soap, WACAC
Monitor all admissions expenses
Review and approve all invoices before reaching the Dean of Enrollment Management

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Admissions within higher education.
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Highly effective interpersonal skills; skilled in tactful diplomacy and conflict resolution.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated skills and techniques to recognize problems and find solutions that uphold SDC’s core values (Identity in Christ, Service, Excellence).
Self-motivated and flexible with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with timelines and short deadlines.

This position requires long periods of sitting, standing, walking, keying and hand/eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor.
