Faculty Careers - English Literature and Composition
DESCRIPTION: East Texas Baptist University seeks to fill a full-time career-track position in English. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in English, broad literary training, and a record of successful teaching in college-level composition and sophomore literature. Experience and interest in composition studies or British Literature would be a plus. Applicants should have teaching experience at the undergraduate level and the ability to incorporate technology into the composition classroom. The position requires teaching a 4/4 load. Responsibilities include freshman composition, sophomore literature surveys, upper-division courses within the English major, plus advising, and serving on university committees.
QUALIFICATIONS: ETBU faculty are required to hold appropriate doctoral degrees. Applicants holding a master’s degree and enrolled in or near completion of their doctorate will be considered. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is also desired. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of professional involvement and a desire to teach in a Christian liberal arts institution. Candidates must have a strong commitment to academic rigor and teaching, the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues, an appreciation for Christian higher education, and must demonstrate a personal Christian faith. ETBU faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the University via faculty meetings/workshops and by participating in/attending student activities and events.
