PURPOSE: The Director of Traditional Admissions is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive traditional admissions management plan designed to address short and long-range traditional undergraduate enrollment goals of the University. The Director of Traditional Admissions reports to the Senior Director of Admissions and partners with the Director of Marketing and Director of Non-Traditional Admissions.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the traditional recruitment program, staff and university partners in the attainment of undergraduate recruitment goals.
Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment plan designed to recruit prospective students. Accountable for semester enrollment goals. Responsible to ensure sufficient lead and inquiry volume for recruiters to attain enrollment goals each semester.
Develop and implement best recruitment practices, oversee the work and provide leadership for the development and success of the admissions team.
Develop and oversee the high school territory, college fairs, conferences and other recruiting events. Collaborate with university staff, faculty, media personnel and leadership, school counselors, principals, higher education leaders state-wide and regionally and the media. Develop relations with professional, educational, church and community organizations.
Cultivate the development and implementation of various outreach activities for recruitment. Develop awareness of emerging strategies in marketing, recruitment, and retention. Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with high schools and home school associations to increase both campus visits and enrollment from these entities. In collaboration wit the Assistant Director of Visits & Events, oversee and increase recruiting effectiveness of campus events and group visits.
Develop strategies to improve student conversion rates from prospect to matriculation through the use of innovative and strategic approaches toward recruitment.
Hire, direct, manage and evaluate the work activities of the traditional admissions recruiting team. Maintain a positive, productive performance culture and ensure that the staff is made up of performance-motivated personnel.
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Admissions, as well as the Assistant Director of Operations, to ensure an efficient and effective working dynamic and communication flow between admission counselors and operational staff.
Partner with the Senior Director of Admissions and the Multimedia Communication Specialist, to ensure the trad comm flow is sufficient and continually developing.
Oversee and direct the strategic growth and execution of on and off campus events as well as and personal visits.
Engage the market, especially Christian high schools, homeschool groups, churches, and camps, as well as other relevant market development opportunities personally as well as through the team.
Evaluate the University’s admissions efforts, collect and analyze admissions statistics on a regular basis and identify trends that advise the on institutional marketing strategy to be incorporated with the annual admission plan.
Proactively communicate admissions statistics along with a semester forecast on a weekly basis to the Senior Director of Admissions. Provide a solution to resolve any anticipated shortfalls.
Collaborate across Northwestern’s enrollment management team.
Leverage technology to enhance recruitment efforts, improve communication and impact conversion rates.
In association with the Senior Director of Admissions, develop and implement all policies and procedures regarding university admissions; ensure that policies are compliant with admissions standards.
Identify demographic trends and how they translate into tactics and new initiatives.
Represent the University at professional meetings and conferences.
Maintain, monitor and report on inquiry, application, enrollment and statistics to identify enrollment trends for the purpose of maintaining appropriate enrollment levels. Ensure that any potential shortfalls are addressed early in the recruitment period.
Evaluate other colleges/universities in the area to develop an awareness of their pricing, policies, and strategies to gain a competitive advantage.
Prepare and manage the annual recruitment budget.
Collaborate with all campus constituencies including but not limited to faculty, student life, athletics and information technology to ensure attainment of recruitment goals.
Supervise and participate in acceptance and processing activities.
Abide by all University policies.

Secondary job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Remain up-to-date on best practices in the field of admissions/enrollment management, researching and updating admissions practices, policies and technologies as needed.
Represent Northwestern at conferences and recruitment events.
Assist with miscellaneous department duties as requested by the VP of Enrollment and Retention.
Act as ambassador within the institution to instill confidence and optimism in the enrollment department.

Previous related admission experience a minimum of three to five years required
Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
