The Department of Communications at the Moody Bible Institute (MBI) seeks a full-time faculty member with an emphasis in organizational media. We welcome candidates whose work traverses communications, media, and storytelling disciplines in form, expression, and distribution.
This faculty member will oversee and teach a rotating selection of the following courses:
Editing for Publication
Media Practicum: Creative Agency
Strengths in any of the following areas will be an asset: multi-platform storytelling, public relations, strategic communications, multimedia journalism, publication design, or social media.

We seek a candidate with a strong record of professional achievement and excellence in undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to applicants with the ability and experience in mentoring students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, college-level teaching experience, and vocational ministry experience. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active portfolio of creative work or be published in high-impact venues.
Primary responsibilities will include teaching a 12-hour semester load, participating in departmental responsibilities, and advising and mentoring Communications majors. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Communications Department.
A Master’s degree is required, with doctorate preferred. Progress towards a doctorate or significant experience in the field will be considered.
All faculty members at the Moody Bible Institute must agree with a doctrinal statement and lifestyle commitment.
Ability to anchor specific media studies providing oversight and leadership to a variety of integrated skills sets.
Commitment and ability to teach existing communications courses as well as develop new ones.
Desire to effectively train students for vocational ministry in the field of communications.
Attitude of teamwork, openness, and appreciation for the diversity of ideas within the department.
High level of personal integrity, energy, and resilience.
Commitment to transformational learning and the development of the whole student.
Ability to teach in additional communications practices is also highly desirable.
The Moody Bible Institute is a Bible college located in downtown Chicago with an undergraduate enrollment of 1675. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association accredits Moody, as does the Association for Biblical Higher Education. The Department of Communications offers a unique integrated media arts program; with 9 full-time faculty members and approximately 200 students majoring in the department.
