The Engle Center, housed in the Division of Student Affairs at Messiah College invites applications for the position of Counselor. This is a full time, ten-month position with work dates from August 1 through May 31 annually.
Responsibilities: Provide professional individual and group counseling to students and work with other educators and staff to provide educational and support opportunities for students.
Qualifications: Master's degree in a counseling-related field; professional license required and two years of counseling experience. College counseling experience is preferred.
Skills and Characteristics: Ability to assess and diagnose mental health disorders; knowledgeable in applying a variety of counseling treatment modalities; understanding of developmental psychology as it pertains to college-age students;
knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of holistic education; ability to empathize with students and relate well to a diverse student body; ability to facilitate groups; ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to work independently.
