Candidates must have an earned doctorate or an earned master’s degree in Education, an active teaching license as an elementary teacher, and evidence of effective teaching at the Prek-12 level and at the college level. Candidates who are hired at the master’s degree level should demonstrate a plan for completing the doctorate degree. Candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, as well as work within Virginia Depart of Education Licensure regulations and the Council for Accreditation of Teacher Preparation (CAEP) accreditation guidelines.
Preferred candidates will have recent elementary school teaching experience, experience in teaching online courses, and experience in developing courses for assessed needs. Preferred candidates will also be required to demonstrate facility with classroom technology as well as utilization of online applications.
The individual must be a committed Christian and have ability to integrate faith and learning, ability to foster critical and creative thinking, ability to work cooperatively within the campus community to advance the mission of the college and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
