Responsible to provide excellence in teaching through the fulfillment of the mission and strategic goals of the Psychology department and Criminal Justice program.
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach a combination of criminal justice, behavioral science, and law enforcement courses, depending on the area of specialty
Commitment to excellence in teaching, academic advising, and student recruitment
Hold office hours, participate in department meetings, fulfill assigned departmental duties, participate in committee work, and other functions as requested by the Department Chair, Dean, or Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Provide leadership, management, and support for faculty
Oversee curricula for all Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement program requirements in collaboration with the Chair of the Department of Psychology and in accordance with Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification to provide the academic component of the Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE)
Abide by all University policies

Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field in the behavioral sciences required; Ph.D. preferred
Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred
Minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Criminal Justice, Criminology, Corrections, Law Enforcement, Forensics, or Law
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
Ability to integrate Christian worldview into classroom instruction
Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and problem solving skills
Knowledge and understanding of basic computer skills
Ability to type 30 wpm and to efficiently and accurately use the computer to carry out job responsibilities
Understanding of and agreement with Northwestern’s Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement is essential
Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
