The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences of Evangel University is accepting applications for assistant professor – Counseling. The position begins August 16, 2017
This is a full time salaried position based on a nine-month contract. Optional summer teaching loads will be negotiated as a separate contract.
Assistant professor of counseling is responsible for teaching core counseling and specialty coursework in either school counseling or clinical mental health counseling.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities will be to teach in graduate counseling program. The typical teaching load will consist of 9-12 hours per semester of graduate counseling courses. This may include didactic and field courses. The applicant will be responsible to facilitate student learning in accordance with established curriculum, advise students relative to their academic progress, and contribute to counseling program in order to meet and secure accreditation standards set forth by the Higher Learning Commission and Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Moreover, a successful applicant will participate in all department meetings, adhere to Evangel University and department policies and procedures, including those set forth in the Faculty Handbook and the Faculty Contract. The applicant will be expected to mentor students academically and spiritually, as well as perform other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, university and community public service. It is expected that the successful candidate remains professionally active in the national, state, and local counseling community.
The successful candidate will be a licensed professional counselor with an earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP accredited program.
Additionally, a successful candidate must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to work collaboratively with others; ability to teach and evaluate students; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; possess excellent organizational skills; and demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Evangel University's principles and values of character, scholarship, culture, service and the university's strong student-centered vision and mission.
