Southern Wesleyan University’s School of Education invited applications for the Coordinator of Doctoral Studies for the School of Education. Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Education, the Coordinator provides leadership and oversight in administration of the doctoral program in Curriculum and Assessment, serves as CAEP point person for the degree, and coordinates the collection of data and the preparation of all reports for various accrediting and federal agencies for the degree. The Coordinator will have teaching responsibilities in graduate programs. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position available July, 2018.
The duties are listed below, but it is expected that some of the data collection and initial report preparation will be delegated to the Data Specialist.
Faculty. In consultation with the Dean School of Education:
Coordinates the ongoing training and development of doctorate faculty as needed.
Works with the adjunct and full-time faculty in the development of new curriculum for both online component and the summer residency formats.
Collaborates with the faculty for the various majors in the continuous assessment and data collection required for the various Special Professional Areas represented in the School of Education.
Works collaboratively with and is an accessible resource for faculty, prospective students, candidates, and other constituency groups (e.g., recruiting and marketing)
Manages and delivers professional development for adjunct faculty pertinent to the School of Education in assessment and CAEP matters.
Assists in the evaluation of full-time and adjunct graduate faculty.
Provides academic mentorship and advisement to candidates.
Contributes to full-time and adjunct faculty recruitment and evaluation.
Curriculum. In consultation with the Dean School of Education:
Assists in the oversight of course scheduling.
Develops and assists faculty in designing new program and course curriculum.
Assists in preparation of materials for the college catalog and other publications regarding instruction.
Completes an annual program review of educational effectiveness and develop annual program
Planning. In consultation with the Dean School of Education:
Develops and updates planning and assessment for all program and unit areas.
Develops and analyzes learning outcomes for all program areas.
Leads internal and external program reviews, unit effectiveness process, accreditation, and other assessment activities.
Works to coordinate student retention efforts.
Coordinates and tracks all graduate requirements and activities for the candidates.
Oversees all dissertation committee activities.
Teaches in graduate Education setting online and on-campus.
Leads the summer residency requirement for the Doctor in Education degree.
Academic. An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Education (preferably curriculum and assessment) is required. Exemplary record of teaching and scholarship within higher education. Record of significant academic administrative achievement, including experience with CAEP and Specialize Professional Area reports as well as other required reports.
