Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a tenure track Exercise Science faculty position in the Kinesiology Department beginning in August 2018. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Exercise Science or a related field. ABD will be considered. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive teaching and research experience in Exercise Science or a related field. The University is currently developing an interdisciplinary program providing students opportunity to work with community clients in a variety of preventive health settings such as diabetes prevention and childhood obesity. The appointee will teach a variety of courses that may include Physiology of Exercise, Applied Nutrition, Research Methods, Physical Fitness Assessment, Physical Fitness Prescription, EKG, Therapeutic Exercise and Pharmacology, Biomechanics, and general education fitness courses. Involvement in a variety of interdisciplinary and outreach oriented health science activities is possible and encouraged.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of faculty-mentored student research and scholarship. Active membership in professional societies, professional service, student advising, faculty governance responsibilities, and chapel attendance are expected.
The Kinesiology Department offers a major in Exercise Science with two concentration options and a major in Sport Management. The department also offers minors in Sport Management and Coaching. The department has 7 full-time faculty and is housed in the Eichling Aquatics Wing of the Kesler Student Activities Center.
