The Position: Tabor College invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President of Student Life, Learning, and Formation. The Vice President of Student Life, Learning, and Formation is responsible for overseeing residential life on the Hillsboro campus, the spiritual health and development of the student body, and retention of students. He or she reports directly to the President of the college and is responsible for student life associated staff and resources. The VPSL serves on the Executive Team.
The Institution: Tabor College is a four-year Christian liberal arts college located in Hillsboro, KS with an extension site in Wichita, KS which is home to the School of Adult and Graduate Studies. Student Life, Learning, and Formation Mission: To nurture the holistic development of students through intentional relationships, programs and services which foster the integration of faith, learning and living.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics relative to leadership, management, theological commitment, and experience:
Support the vision and mission of the college
Foster a comprehensive and inspiring vision for student life that furthers the
mission of the college.
Serve as the student voice on the executive team.
Provide creative and innovative leadership to the student life mission.
Give primary leadership in collaboration with the other areas of the campus to
develop and implement comprehensive retention initiatives and strategies.
Cultivate a residence life program that compliments the academic goals of the
College and encourages life-transforming relationships and experiences.
Promote the spiritual health and development of the student body.
Collaborate with student success office in improving retention and increasing overall GPA of the student body
Work with Campus Pastor in developing the Chapel program, encourage evangelism among the student body, and creating discipleship ministries.
Facilitate campus wide retention efforts.
Supervise Resident Directors in developing a residential life program.
Work with the Housing Director in assigning living space to students.
Develop student leadership in providing student activities, opportunities for
leadership service, ministry involvement, and student development.
Supervise student life staff in creating a positive living/learning experience and responding with care and redemption to lifestyle and behavior issues.
Collaborate with the Bible department in developing the first year experience.
Cultivate relationships with appropriate personnel in the community.
Have a passionate commitment to Jesus Christ
Embrace core Evangelical/Anabaptist convictions
Be committed to the local church, as evidenced by membership and regular
Understand and support the college’s Evangelical/Anabaptist heritage
Have a Masters degree from an accredited institution.
Have a minimum 6 years experience in student life or working with students.
Have progressive experience in Student Affairs including mid-level and at the
level of dean or its equivalent.
