The Web and Digital Designer plans and executes the design of CCU’s websites, including regular maintenance and upgrading of the design in response to branding, messaging, and digital marketing trends. The designer is responsible for designing templates for other digital media at the University, including digital signs and email marketing. The designer works collaboratively with the Digital Technology Manager to ensure best practices for development and implementation of digital designs.
The primary function of the Web and Digital Designer is to plan and execute the design of CCU’s websites, including regular maintenance and upgrading of the design in response to branding, messaging, and digital marketing trends. In addition, the designer is responsible for designing templates for other digital media at the University, including digital signs and email marketing. The designer also works collaboratively with the Digital Technology Manager to ensure best practices for development and implementation of digital designs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for website design. Work with key internal constituents to understand their web communications goals and design site functionality to assist with those goals. Create designs that facilitate inquiry generation, event registration, and application submissions for the University’s admission teams. Develop clear calls to action throughout the entire website – for all audiences.
Develop site navigation to ensure appropriate and intuitive flow of visitor traffic through the website.
Develop site content/graphics by coordinating branding elements with the other Graphic Designers on the team. Ensure strong and consistent brand focus.
Review website on an ongoing basis, monitoring performance and results, and identify options and new technologies for improvement.
Help plan and implement A/B testing options.
Maintain site appearance by developing and enforcing content standards.
Design templates and graphics for CCU’s digital signs for both internal audiences and key visitors to CCU (prospective students, parents, donors, speakers, etc.). Ensure timeliness and relevance of content.
Design, build, and test templates for CCU’s email marketing initiatives, ensure usability on various browsers, and work to ensure high delivery rates by checking content vs. spam filters.
Perform regular reviews of competitor websites.
Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational/training opportunities, participating in professional organizations and networks, and reading professional publications.
Serve as a backup to the Digital Technology Manager for troubleshooting and routine maintenance of websites and digital signs.
Perform special projects as assigned to further the ministry and team.
Provide training to internal clients as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
Expertise with specific graphics tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign; ability to quickly develop proficiency in CCU’s content management tool - Cascade.
Stays up to date on digital design and web development trends.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good sense of design, including how to translate print materials to digital media.
Effective communication skills.
Strong research and analysis skills.
Able to work independently on a variety of projects to meet challenging deadlines.
