Position Description: The Social Work Program at Trevecca Nazarene University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position for teaching and Social Work Program Director beginning August 15, 2018. The Social Work Program Director’s responsibilities include the overall management and direction of the Social Work Program including the ongoing evaluation of the social work program, CSWE accreditation, strategic planning, development of student recruitment, retention, evaluation plans, and curriculum planning and development. Job responsibilities also include teaching courses across the generalist spectrum, specifically Working with Communities and Organizations, Introduction to Social Work, and Research Methods and Design. The Program Director’s responsibilities also include serving as a liaison and advocate for the Program, advising and mentoring students, research and scholarly endeavors, serving on University Committees, promoting faculty development, and active involvement in the community and collaboration with community leaders and organizations. Candidates are expected to be dedicated to a liberal arts education, as well as integrating Christian faith and learning within the practice of social work. This position requires a teaching load of 18 hours per year.
The Program: The Social Work Program at Trevecca Nazarene University currently has approximately 65 students enrolled as majors with continual growth and appeal on campus. There are two full-time faculty member positions in the Program and three adjunct faculty members. The Program received its initial CSWE accreditation in November 2014.
Requirements: Ideal candidates will possess an earned Master’s Degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program (doctorate preferred), with specialization in social work practice and a minimum of two years post-MSW social work practice experience. A strong candidate will have a working knowledge of and hands-on experience with the CSWE accreditation process. Social work teaching experience in a CSWE-accredited program is strongly preferred, as well as current Licensure (LCSW) in social work. Ideal candidates will possess experience and expertise working at the macro level of social work, and demonstrate competence in the field of academic research. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, a respect for diversity, and will demonstrate a strong commitment to the values and mission of the University. A passion for working with undergraduate students in Christian higher education and having a demonstrated vision for the Social Work Program is essential.
