East Texas Baptist University invites applications for a full-time career track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Music – Worship Leadership. The position will include teaching and program coordination work with other faculty totaling 24 load hours per year. The primary faculty assignment would be related to the worship studies program. This would involve teaching a variety of courses in worship studies, supervising student worship bands, recruiting students for the worship program. The secondary responsibility would involve teaching courses in worship media and other areas of music technology. The position also requires supervision and development of the worship media and recording lab. Ancillary responsibilities related to the basic musicianship core based on the successful candidate’s abilities and expertise. Additional faculty responsibilities include participation in departmental reviews and university committees, contribution to curriculum development, and advising and mentoring students.
Experience in worship leadership and/or university-level teaching is preferred. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues, an appreciation for Christian higher education, and demonstrate a personal Christian faith. ETBU faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the University via faculty meetings/workshops and by participating in/attending student activities and events.
Master of Music in Worship Studies or a related area required; doctorate preferred.
