University of Northwestern–St. Paul, Minnesota, seeks an experienced, enthusiastic individual to coordinate, teach in, and provide leadership in its music education program.
Responsibilities include: coordinate and provide leadership for the university’s music education teacher licensure program in P–12 Vocal & Classroom Music and Instrumental & Classroom Music; oversee related curriculum, program development and assessment, student advising and retention, music education area budgeting, adjunct faculty recruitment and retention; assist the Director of Field Experience in placement of students in cooperating schools and fostering strong relationships with these schools; supervise student teachers within public and private schools; teach undergraduate courses in elementary and general music; teach other courses within the department commensurate with its needs and the candidate’s expertise; attend meetings of the School of Education and the Department of Music & Theatre; perform departmental duties as assigned.
Additional responsibilities: abide by all university policies as stated in the Faculty Handbook; attend School of Education & Music/Theatre department events as requested by the Assistant Dean of the School of Education, the Music/Theatre Chair, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Required Qualifications: possess a vital, personal faith relationship with Jesus Christ in the evangelical tradition, embrace and uphold Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community; hold an earned doctorate in music education by start of employment, minimum of three years successful music teaching and/or supervision experience at the P–12 level.
Other Preferred Qualifications: active in professional or creative aspects of music education, experience in student teacher supervision, experience with the national edTPA assessment.
