The Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science
The Computer Science and Mathematics Department at Whitworth University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science faculty position. Expertise in areas such as computer networks, high-performance computing, cybersecurity, or artificial intelligence is preferred. Candidates with relevant industry experience are encouraged to apply. Computer Science and Mathematics faculty at Whitworth University operate in a friendly, fun atmosphere that encourages interaction between one another and students. Faculty doors are open to students, and faculty encourage and emphasize real-world learning opportunities. Most classes are taught in computer labs with an emphasis on gaining practical hands-on experience as well as a strong base of theoretical knowledge. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to teach courses beyond their area of specialization.
Duties include teaching both advanced and introductory undergraduate level courses, teaching courses in their area of expertise, developing new and innovative curriculum related to the candidate's area of expertise, pursuing research in these areas, and providing students opportunities to collaborate and support the candidate's research. Other duties expected are service to the department in the design and reorganization of existing curriculum, student advising, service to the university, and to the greater community.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent.
The department will consider candidates who are nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) and who have a solid plan for completion of their degree.
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
The ability to further develop our curriculum in the candidate's area of expertise.
Demonstrated effectiveness in college-level undergraduate teaching, possessing strong relational skills with students and colleagues.
Evidence of scholarly activity and commitment to pursuing further research.
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives.
