The Director of Adjunct Faculty Management will provide assistance in working with adjunct faculty within the College of Extended learning to ensure quality and constancy in its instruction. The responsibilities will include training, scheduling, monitoring, assessing, and supporting adjunct faculty under the direction of the Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Extended Learning.
Time: Full time
This is a 12-month administrative contract with faculty status. It includes three weeks of vacation as well as regular university holidays. This is an administrative non-tenure track position.
Assist with process of developing course sequencing and program calendars
Assist in recruiting and hiring qualified faculty
Ensure adjunct faculty contracts are set and projected for future semesters
Coordinate with other Schools and Departments to monitor all adjunct teaching loads to ensure that teaching limits are maintained
Assist in orienting faculty to the program and university mission and processes
Ensure faculty are teaching from approved syllabi and using appropriate technology
Provide ongoing development support to faculty in partnership with the Center for Teaching and Learning
Evaluate faculty performance by reviewing student evaluations, observing classes, and monitoring professional and academic productivity
Work with faculty in groups and in one-on-one sessions to design effective educational strategies, curriculum and instructional methodologies
Take responsibility for assisting faculty while teaching their first online course
Working with faculty, help with the on-going review of course content and continuous improvement of online course materials and instruction based upon assessment feedback
Work with appropriate processes in assisting with the ongoing assessment of online instructors
Work with Deans to assist with online and adjunct faculty needing special help
Demonstrate through data collection that student learning and student satisfaction have improved as a result developmental work with adjunct and online faculty
Doctoral degree is preferred, Master’s degree or higher required
Three to five years of leadership experience in higher education required with specific leadership experience in faculty performance evaluation preferred
Proficient in Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and educational technology
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to effectively monitor and manage the areas of budgets and enrollments
Must be able to create and maintain a team spirit among students, faculty, and staff
Must demonstrate professional decorum and ethical decision-making
Must have effective supervisory skills including performance management and hiring
Experienced in higher education online program and course design work across multiple disciplines, including experience with Quality Matters and knowledge of online best practices
Ability to work within multiple learning management systems, including Canvas
Up-to-date knowledge on trends and research in the field of faculty development and the scholarship of teaching and learning
Ability to travel to all PLNU campuses as needed throughout the year
Evidence of Christian commitment, active church involvement, and a strong allegiance to the University mission and vision
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day. Able to drive from one location to another.
