The Department of Graduate Programs at Messiah College currently has an opening for the position of Occupational Therapy Academic Fieldwork Coordinator/Clinical Instructor in OT.
Responsibilities: This full-time, 12 month position is responsible for placement of occupational therapy students in clinical and community sites for Level I and Level II fieldwork experiences. This position is accountable for establishing and updating affiliation agreements and managing fieldwork data; including clinical sites, fieldwork coordinators, and fieldwork educators. The OT AFWC is also responsible for managing student information such as medical and fieldwork requirements. This position monitors student progress during fieldwork placements and interfaces with clinical sites and educators to ensure that students further develop the competencies necessary for entry level practice. In addition to fieldwork responsibilities, the AFWC will serve as a Clinical Instructor in the Masters of OT program and will be expected to teach courses in his/her area of expertise.
Qualifications: A doctoral degree in occupational therapy (OTD or DOT from a US regionally accredited college or university) is preferred. Candidates who hold an academic terminal degree who also hold a master's degree in OT will be considered. A minimum three years of experience in occupational therapy practice; one year of experience supervising students as a fieldwork educator; licensed or license eligible in the state of Pennsylvania is required. Preferred experience includes: teaching experience in higher education or experience as an academic fieldwork coordinator.
Other necessary skills include: Excellent interaction and communication skills (oral and written); strong organization skills; ability to network with regional occupational therapists and a commitment to the mission, values, and educational objectives of Messiah College.
