The School of Communication and Creative Arts at Johnson University is inviting applications for the full-time position of Professor of Music Education. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate sufficient academic qualifications and practice in the field, must be able to teach and develop a variety of undergraduate courses, lead a music ensemble, and show administrative acumen.
Responsibilities: The position will call for teaching music education pedagogy courses, mainly focused on music education pedagogy, supervising student teaching and field experience, advising students, teaching private lessons or ensembles, working with other members of the faculty of School of Communication and Creative Arts in the development and continuation of curriculum and accreditation, and contributing to campus life and student development. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Communication and Creative Arts.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Music Education or a relevant discipline by time of appointment, significant experience in public and/or private school music education, or similar capacity. The abilities to: teach a wide range of music education courses; contribute to the development of curriculum with a focus on experiential learning; and work collaboratively with colleagues in diverse environments. Candidates must be able to sign and adhere to the University’s Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of successful teaching of courses related to music education; experience with accrediting bodies, such as NASM; and Certification in Dalcroze Eurhythmics or Kodály.
