Position Summary: The Department of Cinema and Media Arts at Biola University is searching for a qualified Producer to join the department as faculty.
Education and Experience Required: Candidates may come from the academy or entertainment industry. Applicants with university-level teaching experience are preferred. Industry professionals should have producing experience (five years or more) in one or more of the following areas; feature films, independent films, studio management, marketing and distribution, television shows, documentary or emerging media.
Candidates are expected to have a broad understanding of the role of the producer from inception to distribution including financing, development, intellectual property, storytelling, budgeting, production management, marketing, distribution, exhibition, ancillary markets, etc. The candidate should also have entrepreneurial skills to lead students into emerging markets, new models of financing and entertainment experiences.
The selected candidate will teach from established courses on the undergraduate level and is encouraged to propose new courses. The typical undergraduate teaching load is 12 units per semester.
As a member of the faculty of the University, a successful candidate will be expected to teach, continue creative work/scholarship, and provide service to the University.
The position is a full-time assistant or associate tenure-track faculty role with competitive salary and benefits. The anticipated start is the Fall 2018 semester. MFA in Production or Media Arts, MBA in Entertainment Business or a PhD in a closely related field by the time of appointment is preferred.

Department and University Overview: The Department of Cinema and Media Arts will become Biola’s ninth school on July 1, 2018. The university is currently conducting a search for a founding dean for the new school. Biola serves a student body of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Biola recently received the highest 10-year accreditation level by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC).
