The Graphic Design and Visual Experience Program in The College of Architecture, Visual Arts, and Design (CAVAD) at California Baptist University seeks highly motivated applicants with an entrepreneurial spirit for the position of full-time tenure-track faculty in Graphic Design. The Graphic Design & Visual Experience program is rapidly growing multi-faceted visual communication / experience design program dedicated to the integration of Christian thought and values; cutting-edge design pedagogy; and reflective inter-disciplinary practice. The Graphic Design & Visual Experience Program aims to produce students with high levels of integrity alongside notable skills in the practice of a variety of sub-concentrations including Graphic Design, Visual Experience Design, Video and Motion Graphics, Illustration, and Photography.
This tenure-track track position seeks a candidate who will be able to both 1) bring academic teaching experience or significant professional experience as a foundation for effective teaching of graphic design at the undergraduate level; 2) bring previous leadership experience to play a significant role in the attainment of NASAD accreditation and development of a graduate program for Graphic Design and Visual Experience.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: 1) Terminal degree in Graphic Design or related field; 2) Teaching experience at the both the undergraduate and graduate levels, or significant record of work as a professional designer; 3) An existing or developing research / creative practice agenda that will expand or enrich the school’s pedagogy; 4) Proven leadership in professional or academic arenas; 5) Previous experience with NASAD accreditation; 6) Previous leadership or participation in a MFA of Design; 7) Demonstrate a history of service to the profession and/or the broader community. Additionally, the department of Graphic Design and Visual Experience is an active part of a broader College which seeks to foster collaboration between a growing number of art and design disciplines (Architecture, Photography, Film, Fine Art) via design thinking and cross-disciplinary interaction. Successful candidates will come with interest in participating and fostering cross-disciplinary inquiry across design disciplines.
