California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for the position of Principal Faculty, Physician Assistant Studies. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service through the integration of the Christian faith and learning. A doctoral degree is preferred, although candidates with a master’s degree and relevant license and certifications may be considered. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position with a start date no later than July 1, 2018.
The Principal Faculty member will assist the Didactic Coordinator in the delivery of the didactic phase (year 1) of the PAS program. This person will work closely with faculty, staff, and consultants to ensure the didactic curriculum meets current practice standards and scope and is in compliance with ARC-PA requirements.
The successful candidate will work with the PA Program Director and Didactic Coordinator maintain the didactic curriculum. Primary responsibilities include preparing, revising, leading, and instructing courses in the PAS program; student advising; assessment. Other duties include participation in admissions processes and university, professional, and community service. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent teaching and will be expected to maintain an active program of personal scholarship and service.
Qualified applicants must have graduated from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program, and maintain current NCCPA certification and licensure (or eligibility) in California. Applicants also must have an earned master’s degree in PA education or in a related field, a minimum of three years of clinical PA practice experience and excellent interpersonal, written, and computer skills, as well as teaching and administrative experience. Exceptional candidates with less than 3 years of clinical experience may be considered.
