Taylor University is seeking applications from and nominations of distinguished candidates to teach in the Department of History, Global & Political Studies This is a tenure track position beginning in August 2018. A PhD in History required with a primary focus on United States history and a secondary focus in one or more of the following areas: Latin America, Modern Europe, Asia, Africa, Public History or Regional Geography. Candidates should be committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the university. Candidates must also have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. Taylor University is a Christ-centered educational institution, and an evangelical, interdenominational covenant community committed to advancing life-long learning and ministering the redemptive love and truth of Jesus Christ to a world in need. Candidates will be expected to affirm the Taylor University Life Together Covenant, Statement of Faith, and essential documents.
The successful candidate will bring a vision and a passion for working collaboratively with department colleagues in developing an engaging, rigorous curriculum that prepares graduates to pursue their calling through curricular and co-curricular activities such as research projects with students. The normal teaching load is 24 hours. Student advising and other normal faculty and departmental duties are also expectations. The successful candidate will demonstrate her/his commitment to the life of the mind through participation in professional organizations and scholarship and will be committed to the integration of faith and learning.
The Department of History, Global & Political Studies currently has four full time faculty members. There are currently 115 majors and 26 minors in these programs. Our graduates pursue careers and graduate degrees in law, government and public service, secondary and university teaching, ministry and missions, and public history.
