The School of Graduate Studies at Messiah College invites applications for the position of Occupational Therapy Faculty/Assistant Director, Master of Occupational Therapy Program. The successful candidate will be hired into a Term-Tenure Track Assistant Professor or Clinical-track Assistant Professor position depending upon qualifications. This is a 12-month position.
Responsibilities: The faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses in their area of expertise (preference given to areas of Neuroscience, Adult Rehabilitation and Research Methods). Research experience and competency in teaching research is preferred, including advising student research and engaging in research of his/her interest. The faculty member is expected to participate in admissions, OT program initiatives, and student advising. The faculty member will engage in service to the college, the OT profession, and the community. In addition to traditional faculty responsibilities, he/she will be given release time to serve as the Assistant Program Director.
As the Assistant Program Director, this position will oversee faculty development, development of a department policy manual, and managing student concerns. Additional responsibilities include collaborating in the development process of the ACOTE self study report.
Qualifications: A terminal academic degree (PhD or EdD) from a US regionally accredited college or university is preferred. If the highest degree is an OTD, candidate will be considered for a clinical-track position. The successful applicant must have a license or be eligible for licensure as a registered occupational therapist in the state of Pennsylvania and have a minimum 6 years of experience in occupational therapy practice. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with previous graduate level teaching experience in an ACOTE accredited program. Additional experience with ACOTE accreditation standards and procedures is also preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are required. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have previous research experience. The successful candidates will be able to articulate a statement of faith and teaching philosophy that is in alignment with the mission of Messiah College.
The Program: The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program at Messiah College will prepare competent occupational therapy practitioners with a focus on leadership and service. The MOT is a full time 80-credit hour program. The Occupational Therapy Program at Messiah College is housed in a 32,000 square foot facility with spacious teaching-learning spaces including state of the art Anatomy Lab, Pediatric Lab and an apartment with universal design /ADL Lab, as well as many other exceptional teaching labs.
