Primary responsibility is teaching undergraduate physics and physical science. The successful candidate will be able to teach a two-semester algebra-based physics course, a physical science course, and will be responsible for supervision and/or instruction of teaching labs for physics and physical science courses. The successful candidate must teach the subject matter in a manner that is consistent with the university’s Statement of Faith with particular attention to the statement on creation. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum and program development, university and departmental committee work, and may involve student research advising/mentoring. Corban University faculty are expected to be active scholars, excellent teachers, active in service to the university and the community, and able to model the integration of faith and learning.
Doctorate in physics or related field is preferred. The successful candidate without a doctorate will be expected to complete a doctoral program.
Significant experience in physical sciences is required and college teaching experience is preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in faculty driven undergraduate research. Candidate should have strong teaching and leadership skills and have a demonstrated record of active participation in professional organizations.
The candidate must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence a mature Christian faith, be in agreement with the University’s statement of faith, be committed to the integration of biblical principles within their teaching, and be willing to invest him/herself in the development of undergraduate science students. The science program places great value in collaboration and, therefore, desires candidates who have the same teamwork and collaborative values.
